President's Message

As this message reaches you, we will have been in quarantine for well over four weeks. We have seen closures of businesses, schools, and restaurants. What has given me hope though, is each and everyone of you. It came as no surprise to me that many of you, GVFHRA members jumped to the front lines to help displaced workers, first responders, high risk citizens and many others in need.

We have always been proud of your work in HR but especially lately. We hope that reading about what some of your peers are doing will help you stay motivated, connected, and inspired during these unprecedented times. Depending upon your situation, you may be spending more time social distancing or working less. Now is the perfect time to take advantage of the opportunities that GVFHRA and SHRM have to offer to refresh, refocus and return even stronger than before.

Might I also encourage you to enjoy the activities that bring you comfort and hope. Whether that’s volunteering to help those in need, spending more time with family, investing in your continued education or indulging in hobbies! Find your center, stay connected with the chapter and others in the HR profession and we will get through this – together as one HR Community!

As always, I welcome any ideas and/or feedback that you may have to help improve our SHRM Chapter.

With regards,

Kerri Marin
