Mindful or Mind Full? Decluttering the Busy Leader's Mind

Approved for 1.25 SHRM PDC's and 1.25 General (HRCI) Credits

Do you find yourself in the middle of the night thinking about work and unable to sleep?  Do you arrive at work and wonder how you even got there, never noticing anything along the way?  Do you remember where you left your keys or if you responded to that email?  Paying Attention has become a skill which can be relearned.  We'll review how to easily and quickly develop a Mindfulness practice to help enable you to increase your productivity and allow you to sleep at night.
During this highly interactive session you'll learn why Mindful Leadership is needed in the workplace:

  • A Mindful Leader is prepared to handle challenges and obstacles in a positive way in the workplace and can deal successfully with stress.
  • A lack of focus or attention to detail at work can lead to a loss of productivity, and potentially more serious consequences.
  • We all face challenges in our daily lives.  Research shows that how we manage those challengescan have either a positive or negative effect on our relationships and on our physical and mental health.

When practicing Mindfulness, this enables one to become experts in knowing ourselves.  It is not about changing who we are, it is about understanding who we are and accepting ourselves with compassion that leads to a life that is richer in the knowing.

Harriet Stein has more than thirty years’ experience in the healthcare industry, including almost a decade teaching Mindfulness at Johnson & Johnson. She is a Registered Nurse and professional presenter to companies ranging in size from small firms through the Fortune 500. She is called an “inspirational teacher,” and utilizes humor to teach the practice of Mindfulness.

Harriet’s passion is helping individuals take steps toward a healthier, more fulfilling life through this practice which will enhance both their professional and personal lives.  She taught Mindfulness at J&J to over 5,000 of her colleagues, gave mindfulness presentations at internal leadership summits for global audiences, and instructed on Mindful Leadership.  She launched her own company eight years ago and left J&J in 2017 to focus entirely on bringing Mindfulness into the workplace.

Harriet Stein’s desire to teach Mindfulness began after attending her first professional program with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program in 2000.  She completed advanced teacher training in MBSR at The Myrna Brind Center for Mindfulness at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

Harriet earned a BS in Nursing from Albright College and a MS in Health Administration from Saint Joseph’s University.
